First grade uses the Bob Jones curriculum for phonics, English skills, spelling, reading, heritage studies, math and science. The math is used with hands-on manipulatives for every lesson. Addition and subtraction facts are mastered with a daily drill sheet and individual math fact cards. Real money is used in math, and we have a classroom store.
The first graders visit the school library once a week and have chorus with the 2nd and 3rd graders. The art teacher comes to the classroom for an art lesson each week, and the students go to computer lab once every other week.
With the Bible curriculum, the children focus on the many gifts of love provided us by God. They learn many Bible verses and Christ-honoring songs.
